According to the IBGE, the agriculture of Pernambuco showed an increase of 7.1% in its value added in 2006. This performance was influenced by the growth in physical production of its main crops: sugar cane (2.8%), grapes (3.3%), mango (11.6%) and banana (8.8%). These four crops account for added about 60% of the value of agricultural production in Pernambuco. The local livestock showed an increase in its value added of 12.8%. The highlights were the increases in milk production (19.7%), beef (18.2%) and poultry (3.7%).

The value added of industry of the state issued in 2006, an increase of 4.2% compared to 2005. This performance was mainly influenced by the positive behavior of the manufacturing industry and construction, which in that year recorded an increase of 4.5% and 5.8% respectively. In the analysis of the manufacturing industry were the increases in the production of segments: food and beverages (8.6%) due to increased production of crystallized sugar and soft drinks, metallurgy (4.8%), due to the increased production of fabricated carbon steel sheet and strip and aluminum, and rubber and plastics (27.7%), due to increase in production of plastic films, and tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics.

In 2006, consumption of cement, one of the variables used to assess the construction sector grew 21.8%. Another variable, formal employment, also showed a significant increase: 12.7%. Some important works have driven the heavy construction in 2006. Another important fact, which signaled the positive performance of construction in the state, was the result of the volume of retail sales of building materials, which grew 5.8% when comparing 2006 with 2005 results, according to the monthly survey Trade IBGE.

In 2006, the value added of services in the State of Pernambuco grew 4.6% compared to 2005. The activities that stood out were: financial intermediation, insurance and pension funds (10.5%), commerce (7.0%) and business services (5.9%). These three together account for more than 30% of value added services of the state. Integrated Development Polo- Petrolina / Juazeiro
The Pole Petrolina / Juazeiro is formed by the municipalities Petrolina, Lagoa Grande, Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Orocó, in Pernambuco; Juazeiro, Sobradinho, Casa Nova and Curaçá, in Bahia. Situated in the semi-arid, sub-average in San Francisco, the Polo Petrolina / Juazeiro has shown accelerated growth in irrigated agricultural production. It is considered the largest and most dynamic center for irrigated fruit of Brazil.

The private sector is showing strong momentum in the region highlighting the cultures of mango and grapes, largely export-oriented. In addition to grapes and mango, the irrigated orchards of the region are covered by 45 other different irrigated crops, especially banana, coconut, guava and citrus. Grain yield and short cycle crops are also explored in order to meet the domestic consumer market and the agro-processing, such as bean, tomato industrial and table, peppers, watermelon and pumpkin.

On the expansion of agribusiness to highlight opportunities in the production and sale of machinery, equipment and implements, production and sale of raw materials, packing houses, production and sale of cardboard boxes and plastic
boxes, agro juice, fruit and candy companies, transport and trading companies.
There are logistics to business marketing, consulting various offices, project accounting, general laboratories, mobile patrols, labor, marketing and others.

Tourism Polo- Coast Reefs
The Pole Coast Reef encompasses 15 municipalities and the Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, with a resident population of 3.1 million people. The placement of infrastructure opens the way for the structuring of the Tourism Polo Coast Reef. The structure of the Pole began with the installation of the Tourism Council, and
main objectives the integration of the entire production chain in the region, the exploitation of local vocations and integrated planning and sustainable tourism.

On the north coast of the Pole, which has about 60 km long, is Itamaracá, which has several natural attractions and cultural support structure. On the southern coast, approximately 90 km long, there are some famous landscapes such as Porto de Galinhas, in Ipojuca and Sheep’s Beach in the city of Tamandaré, which received significant investment from PRODETUR / NE I, like roads, works sanitation, environmental and institutional development. Ecotourism is also represented on the Tourism Polo of the Reef Coast, the enchanting archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, where the National Marine Park, which covers an area of 112 km long, protected fauna, flora and history.

Infrastructure
There are 41,658 kilometers of highways that cross the State in all directions. The Highway-101 crosses the state in the north-south direction. Other roads link the state to the whole interior of the country, especially the Federal Highways 232 and 316. The state has 900 km of railways linked to ports and other railroads. Compete for Recife, three trunk lines of the Northeastern Railway Company - CFN, serving the major producing regions of the state, linking the ports to the state capitals located north of Pernambuco (northern), the cities of the state (stem west), and the city of Maceió and Aracaju (south). The State has an international airport in the metropolitan area. Among the most modern in the country, has annual turnover of 1.5 million passengers. It offers domestic flights and international charters. There are two ports, Suape and Recife, and a river port in Petrolina. The ports are administered by the State Government.
